A buddy of mine just sent me a picture of a "flounder" he caught in shark river today.... A SUMMER FLOUNDER!! I understand the water temps are warm but I'm finding it really odd that it is December 17th and we are still catching fluke!! I've had 5 trips blackfish this year in which a fluke, or multiple fluke have been caught. Plus I've seen numerous sponsors reporting catching a fluke here and there as well. And yes a summer flounder. where were these damn things during the summer! Will post the picture he sent me when I'm out of work, it was a 17 inch fish.

Many many years ago, a party boat captain told me that there are always some fluke around, that some will winter over locally, and not move far offshore.. Same thing with winter flounder They are not always where they are "suppossed to be"... I have caught them in mid summer in the rivers and bays, including a huge one in August that hit a whole sandworm I was drifting for Weakfish.. The book isn't always right concerning fish migrations

Fished a nonsponsor out of OC Maryland day after Thanksgiving for Sea Bass.
Eight pound fluke won the pool.
