West winds, even strong ones are not an issue if you are fishing in close to the beach like we have been lately. In fact, they will actually help stay us stay on anchor and be better for fishing then the no wind conditions we've had recently.

As I see it, game on unless the forecast changes.

Since JMURR bailed on us for final (heard he was having nightmares about big togs on jigs) I threw together some odds to keep tradition going...

HD Marc- Found a good fish last week despite not fishing much, but the excitement of being first to board the boat screws with his head and hacks all day long. 50:1

Thing 1- Child prodigy of the legendary blackfish Bobby, trying to break out from under the wing with a big fish that gave you and pops the team pool money. I noticed some mono line with leaders of only 30 lb test, that will put meat on deck with no wind and no current but lets see how that light stuff does with 30 knots in your face and a heavy southernly current.

Frank Krupa- ARE you even a NJ fisher!!! Thanks for playing 1000:1

Hookset- Probably the worst fishermen ever, screws around with jigs all day and drinks a lot of beer. 1,000,000:1

JLrotary- Gets a lot of ball busting for not fishing much because he is a family man now. I feel for you man, I am in same boat (hahaha) he has gotten big ones before and I think he still escapes to southern grounds to keep the skills up, vegas likes this guy 20:1

Fishfinder- Starts to chirp when he walks by blackfish Bobbies cooler and makes a decision to fish shallow,(in bobbies cooler) he hates to leave fish to find fish. 200:1

Dupes- The most polite guy in this bunch of riff raff, I’m pretty sure I heard him apologizing to the crab before de-shelling it. Being a good person is a great life lesson but when in Rome sharpen those skates and let the hate fly. If Dupes tells me to go F*** myself on sat morning odds will get better, for now 50:1

PA Beer Guy- Now that I know you will gladly stop fishing to open all my beers I take from you cooler I can plan on getting drunk and fully distracting you. (I’m a pretty thirsty guy) 40:1

If I had a choice I could just tell charter master from other trip that I am backing out from his trip because a better option came up and stick him to try to find someone to replace me. Not the way i role. Being a man of my word that was not an option. Now that ,cape may trip has been cancelled it now opened the door to get on trip I wanted to do from the beginning. When I board makes no difference as for me it is all about the passion we have for Blackfishing and the good we are doing to keep the memory of Mike alive.

There is nothing I would enjoy more than to fish with this crazy group of guys
If I had a choice I could just tell charter master from other trip that I am backing out from his trip because a better option came up and stick him to try to find someone to replace me. Not the way i role. Being a man of my word that was not an option. Now that ,cape may trip has been cancelled it now opened the door to get on trip I wanted to do from the beginning. When I board makes no difference as for me it is all about the passion we have for Blackfishing and the good we are doing to keep the memory of Mike alive.

Well we didn't get many but a few guys had some really nice fish. MVP had a 9 and change, Broken Bobber a 10 and change and Joe The Plumber took the crown with a 13 and change.

Thanks everyone for coming out and for the crew of the Mimi hosting us again.

We managed to raise $2750 for the Wells family which Bobber will be delivering to them just before Christmas.

Thanks for helping out again Alex. Like you, my thanks comes when I'm on these trips looking down the rail, seeing fish flying, listening to chops being busted, people making new friendships, renewing old ones and creating more memories.

A few great lines and memories:

- Ragusa - "I remember when I caught my first 2 pound fish"

- JMurr after Small Fry caught a keeper - "I hope you get nothin for Xmas kid"

- Joe the Plumbers big "YES!! " and fist pounding when his PUOSU winning and PB fish hit the deck

- Hookset trying to set Joey up when he went to the bathroom and Joey caught him red handed.

- Bobby Quinn coming down working the crowd. I gave him my pole and told him to show me how it's done... He hooks one, hands the pole off to me says "that's how it's done" and I reel in his skate.

- DFish rattling my pole when I wasn't looking and hadn't had a hit in a few hours... My neck still hurts.

- The look on Jarheads face when he reels in a 10 pounder and the mate says " It's not your hook in that fish" and seeing Bobber standing on the other side of the deck with a limp pole and $hit eating grin.

- The always funny and never gets old " THIS SPOT SUCKS "

- The look on the mates face when someone threw up in the bathroom :eek:

After you get the feel for it, a lot of it comes down to having the right bait in the right place at the right time and when you get your chance, having the right equipment to pull the piggy out of the rocks.

If you put in your time, every once and a while all the pieces come together.

Lol, I was unofficially going to give you the nickname MudHunter... Lol, Saturday was definitely a day to think about different things! Like how good the food and drink were, how great a cause it was for, and for some, if freshwater might be a better option:rolleyes::rolleyes::
For me my highlight was seeing our fearless leader set the hook like Hank Parker on a lunker:.. for a good bottom of the gimbal tap! Lmao for a good 30 on that, glad no rods or eyes got broke after that cause he was "caning" my rod like a bad person in Singapore for most of the trip after! Lol it's not always about the trip but the good times had and the cause it was for. Way to go again JTP on both the PB and the crown! Loved the fist pumps and hoots and hollars when that slobbo came to the deck! I hope I still have that energy you have when a few more years pass on me! Much respect and well deserved, see ya next year, or before if the planets align, to all that made it happen, Mucho Kudos!! I love this event since I started... Quick update....

Delivered the moneys from the PUOSU 2015 challenge to Lady Di -- Mikes wife, yesterday 12-21-15

It was a VERY emotional scene and She just can't express her gratitude enough to EVERYONE involved....

she did make a statement on facebook and I'm pretty sure she will get around to it here....
