Went on the ocean explorer today after a great trip two weeks ago. I finally met a NJFer on board, Blackfish Bobby. I regained my crown as king of the throwbacks on a day that was one of the toughest blackfish bites that I ever experienced. I asked bobby for some advice and he said if they don't bite you have to force feed them. Well up on the pulpit bobby was catching them even when the wouldn't eat.PUOSU NJFers BEWARE because I think the clinic that he put on today has pushed him to the Las Vegas odds on favorite. GOOD LUCK TO ALL IN THE PUOSU YOU ARE GOING TO NEED IT. As far as captain bobby and crew ,they worked their arses off in tough anchoring conditions to try to get everyone on the bite. Hopefully redemption will come for me next sunday on the stix.

Bobby is pretty amazing. For beginners you should just pay the fare and watch. The guy is a magician. But now for the good news as all we long time fisher people know. It's better to be lucky than it is good. Fish when you can and may luck find you all. You always win when you're fishing.

Best to remember the above: It's better to be lucky than it is to be good.

Bobby is always in the mix on the PUOSU and he is due. I'm sure you will all meet him on the PUOSU because he gets around. He's got a lot of energy, travels with a pocket full of crabs and works the deck of the boat like politician at a fundraising party.

A twitch of a pole tip or a swing and a miss and he appears out of nowhere. He'll stop by and say hello, exchange a few friendly how do you dos and drop down a crab. All the while he's looking down the rail for the next donor. Funny thing is, he's so good at it, most unsuspecting people never even notice they've been violated :D

If we want to lower the odds on him we are going to need to sew his pockets shut and glue his boots to the deck.

We're on to you Bobby...

Who loves you.

My last trip with him though a while back, we found a nice little pocket my brother and I pulled two nice 6-8 pounders out and a crab comes flying in from the bow 12 people up before I could get back in the water he pulled the fish I knew was there and won the pool. We had a good laugh on the way back in as I busted on him for robbing me. He is always on his game and a pleasure to fish with. I love when he is on the boat, he is a true indicator of whether the fish a present. A true class act, and gentleman.

Bobby refers to the OE bow as his Living Room. If you're a Tog, it's more likely the Killing Room
