this past week, being the last week for the boat in the water before it gets pulled, we really went out with a bang! :D
Thursday morning, John and I headed out for a pre thanksgiving dinner tog hunt. On the way out, I proceeded to eat my lucky banana and rub the peel all over the boat. as we went around the hook, what a beautiful sight! birds everywhere! swimbaits and poppers did the damage and we left them biting after a few hours to go in search of our delicious tog targets. anyway the fish were near the surface but the bigger ones seemed to prefer the swimshads up high slow retrieved and the schoolies were attacking the poppers. 3 biggest fish were 31, 29, and 35.5".
by the time we reached the tog grounds we didn't have much time and the shorts wouldn't leave us alone. we managed to wiggle onto a good spot and pick up 2 keepers though, one being a nice bruiser by john. of course i was late to thanksgiving dinner...OH WELL!

Sunday out again, this time lucky charm brent "yimmy" wanted to come along for his first ever blackfishing experience...and his luckiness worked again!
No birds working on the way out so we headed right for the tog grounds only had to drop anchor once for the entire day and just let out or pulled up to adjust as the tide came and went and just slid up and down on the same anchoring. 5-10 ft in any direction made huge differences sometimes we picked away at shorts with a keeper sometimes nothing and a few wiggles put us on absolute tog hotels!
Yimmy lost all my rigs but he did manage a tog limit for himself plus 1 on his first time ever blackfishing!! wtf  I had my best day with 21 tog and 4 keepers which was spoiled by him making it look easy. Johnny boy landed the donkey of the day at 20.5" 5lbs and we ended up 4 tog short of a 3 man limit!
as a special surprise, I shouldered yimmy out of his tog hotel corner for a minute and whacked my first ever cod, a keeper at 24"! and as if we hadn't been lucky enough...on the way back in...BIRDS! and even though we were already coming back in way over schedule...John couldn't resist (and he wasn't going to get any argument from us) so we had at it with the stripers for a little while. it was mostly schoolies, but they were fun and i did manage to yank out one 28.25" on a slow shad retrieve.
Hell of a way to end the season, and our best fall saltwater fishing season. Btw, i'll be selling lucky little pendants filled with yimmy's hair at the xmas party!
