Surf fished Sandy Hook with my Son a bit north of the rt 36 bridge on Sunday 6AM to 12PM.
With no one near us and very little sign of life ... after 3 hours of fishing I got my first knockdown. A big seagull hit my braid about 30 yards out and got tangles in the line.
Got him to shore and while trying to grab his head so I could untangle him.. he proved quicker and took a nice bite out of my left ring finger which bled for about another hour or so. Anyway he was safely released without having to cut the line.
An hour later... bam... second knockdown..... another damn bird! This time I wised up and threw a towel over his head before untangling...... he was really fouled and I had to cut the line.
That is when I decided to call it a day.
I just can't believe with only one thin line out there and very few gulls around .. I get two in one day.
Oh yea... not one bite from the swimming animals.....:)
