This time last week we were bailing big bass in the bunker schools south of Manasquan. Today, my intel tells me that school of big bass is south of LBI. Evidence of that is the party boats from Pt. Pleasant which were fishing off Allenhurst yesterday for bluefish! If the bass were within range for them, they would have been there. Is there going to be an exodus of bass from Raritan Bay some time soon and will they drop down along the beach or head offshore? There are schoolies along the beaches chasing peanut bunkers but like any fish that chase bunkers (big or small) they move considerable distances in just a few days. Where the bunkers go will determine where the bass go. To send them south, we need a big drop in temperatures or guys will be looking to use their 2016 bonus tags on the stripers that will be sure to hang around into the new year. Is there a 2016 tag in the works? Are there any fish still off Fire Island? Will there be a new school of big stripers coming down the beach or have they already come through?
