Got invited to go to the Hudson on a friend's boat out of MI with a crew of 6 total. Headed out Monday morning to flat seas. Set up the troll upon arrival til dusk with not a touch. Set up in the chunk and had a fat longfin in the boat within 30 minutes. Slowed down for a bit then went full-on with 60-80 lb yellowfins until about 8pm. A few random bites and a few PITA blue sharks until the screen lit up at around 3 am, and we had an insane longfin bite until dawn. We were so tired and bloody that we were releasing fish. Had to collar them just to fit them in the holds. Total count was 12 yellowfin and 9 longfin. Had my all-time biggest yellowfin on my light Penn 12vsx / Shimano Trevala combo. Board-flat seas all the way home. The definitive epic trip of a lifetime.

We were getting them on bait only. Mostly on sardines, and a few on some squid we netted in our lights. Yes, the longfin were big and really strong. It was incredible.
