10-26 Canyon Report
We headed back to the canyon Sunday night.
We had a nice ride out and the forecast was for 15 to 25 knot winds which are fine for this time of year.
When we arrived at the canyon the forecast was a little off and the winds were 20 to 30 knots so it was a little choppy.
The seas were not a problem but we had a very strong current again.
It did not take long before we landed 2 yellowfin on jigs.
A third was landed shortly after that and then the action slowed.
We had a few.tuna bites and a few shark bites through the night until 5am when the 50 to 70lb yellowfin schooled under the boat.
We had good action until sunrise.
We lost a number of fish due to the conditions and some pesky blue sharks that kept attacking the tuna that were hooked.
Some notable catches were:
Jim Vrabel from Comply PA with his limit of yellowfin.
Steve Torres from Sparta NJ with 2 nj ice yellowfin.
Tyler Krarmer from PA with 2 yellowfin.
Chris Steskal from Chalfont PA with 2 yellowfin.
Jack French from Amityville NY with a nice yellowfin.
There are still plenty of fish in the canyon.
we read tuna from 90' to 200' down at times.
The water temperature has been holding steady around 69 degrees which is good for this time of year.
There is space available on trips sailing after this Tuesday.
The big Jamaica is scheduled to sail at 7am every Tuesday and Thursday for 31hr trips. Overnight 22hr trips depart 5pm every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
