Met up with Fast Eddie this evening for some sure thing Wally conditions. Cold weekend just passed so the water has to finally be right for fall jigging!!!!NOT!!! We hit some usual spots only to find that pesky thermocline I keep bitching about. We made a move to some unfamiliar grounds and first drop I hit wally in the head and had an 18" in the net. Within 5 minutes Eddie's rod was bent over and we had #2 in the net!! We thought we found the honey hole but the remaining light only yielded a pair of white perch and a smallie. Still waiting on the late fall pattern but the eyes are out there if you work for them.

Splendid night for some Walleye fishing on the Mugger. Maybe it was too nice out for the marble Eyes but the ride and evening was enjoyable. There were some Herring popping up here and there but didn't see any predatory species inhaling them. Any day now it should break wide open. For now all you need is a little finesse in your game to get the LINEZ TIGHT. Thanx for the cruise Scott! Good times!:D

hit the lake with high hopes since it was perfect weather conditions (upper 60's, clouds and wind) but like others reporting this week no love from Mr Eye...did catch one whale of a sunfish though..haha
wind swept portion of the lake was a consistent 57 degrees...protected areas were in the low - mid 60's...there were a ton of boats out fishing for a Thursday afternoon....going to guess everyone had the same idea as me....hopefully things turn on before the M&G

that kind of surface temp difference is very strange to me...on two other lakes the differences between the wind and non wind blown sides were 1 degrees or less...that's normal to me! what is going on on cong? have i just never noticed this in years past?? or is there some weird dragging on transition period happening?

surface temps are just that, they dont indicate the real temp of the water. a good sonar unit can show u the striations in the water column, and its pretty consistent. I was out on LH sunday morn and my rear unit showed 59 on the topwater, while my ulterra 2ft into the water showed 56. by lunchtime it was 59 on both units after the wind blew and mixed the water up. The deeper water is always colder and the surface temp and body temp will show that, while shallower water and bays will have higher temps. Its always been like this on LH and alot of other bodies that have weird lake layouts, where as a place like GWL is pretty even and changes only based on depth mostly
