10-14 Canyon Report
Best Ever!

Not only was the Tuesday/Wednesday canyon trip the best catch of the season, but, it was actually the best trip ever, for the big Jamaica,
with an almost even catch of longfin and quality yellowfin.
We landed the most tuna ever, for a single trip.
We were going to start with mahi-mahi but, there has been a day bite for tuna recently and it was getting a bit breezy as we approached the canyon.
We started out drifting but with 20 to 25 knot winds it was a quick drift.
It only took a few minutes before we started to read fish under the boat.
We dropped the anchor and started catching longfin and yellowfin within 10 minutes after the anchor held.
We caught fish all night long with only a few lulls.
Around midnight the yellowfin really schooled under the boat and were hitting jigs and bait.

Here are just a few names as there were too many to list.
Pedro DeCosta from Yonkers NY caught his limit of yellowfin and "several" longfin.
Russell Masciotti from New Rochelle NY caught his limit of yellowfin plus "several" longfin.
Jeff Barnes from Landenberg PA caught his limit of yellowfin.
Ed parker from Queens NY caught his limit of yellowfin and 5 longfin.
Erik Bogan caught his limit of yellowfin plus 2 longfin in between chunking and helping out. (He was not working today).

It looks good for upcoming trips. The water temperature reached as high as 74.4 degrees again Wednesday.
More tuna are moving into the canyon every day.
The big Jamaica is scheduled to sail on 31hr trips at 7AM every Tuesday and Thursday.
21hr overnight trips sail 5PM every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
Trips are scheduled through early November.
