OK sorry thought you were talking about the Bruins who packed up and frozen don't fair well at MSG against RANGERS:D. Where is the hockey thread? Seriously Hope all is well!
But the fish ling are better eaten fresh although my family likes them Vacuum packed and frozen as well. Just like any fish, the way you take care of them from water to freezer matters. Having said that the flesh isn't firm so best eaten quick fresh or frozen.

The Tropics method . . .
After cleaning up your fillets brine them but have ice in your brine. Take them out, pat them dry and bag them up. They stay Nice firm and white ;)

I recently tried freezing and vacuum packing ling in a salt water solution/mixture. Kosher salt or sea salt. I noticed a major difference in texture and flavor.

what fin reaper says, soak the fillets in an ice and kosher salt for about 15 minutes.it really firms and cleans the fish up.pat dry and freezez

Freeze them whole-guts and all
Filet them when almost defrosted- still real cold
Works even better for blackfish

I'm with Torchee. My father-in-law told me the same thing, he does it with many fish he cant eat fresh.
I was a bit skeptical to say the least, but gave it a try when I had more than I could fresh. Works just fine.

Try this bro,fry up a batch, have dinner and freeze the rest cooked.they will be like the day you caught them.let them defrost on the kitchen counter not in the microwave.enjoy,capt.tommy j0seph
