I just received another tag from a fluke I tagged last year. It was caught almost to the day this year in almost the same spot. My message, along with the fact that fish do survive is to those of you who do catch a tagged fish. Please measure or weigh the fish before you report or return the tag to the American Littoral Society. Several people have returned the tags but failed to include any data other than where the fish was caught. This last fish was tagged when it was 15" last year. I have no idea how big it had grown while it was at large for the year. For any stripers, measure them to the fork of the tail which is how it's done for that species.

Had a friend of ours got a tagged Fluke this year... First one I ever seen, was caught off of Sandy Hook and he is still awaiting the return results.

Here is the American Littoral Society page for mailing in tags and to become a tagger if you'd like.

I turned in a tag on a Fluke caught Aug 12th 2015....got the results back just last week. Fish was tagged off Shinnecock, Long Island on June 15th, 2014 at the time it was 15 3/4 inches and 1.4 pounds.

We caught it at the 3 buoy Sandy Hook Channel, 18.1 inches and 2.3 pounds....Didn't think they grew that fast?? Pretty cool though to see how they get around. :)
