So, even if your a party or charter, you must get rid of those big orange open rafts with the netting? Is a party boat now supposed to load up on inflatables?

Just another expense for an industry already stretched to the limit. I can understand if your sailing offshore or in winter waters, but for inshore boats that are done by November, December, sounds like overkill

Mario, thanks for the info

I may be wrong, but I believe that only applies to Vessels that hold a COI.
Not to Recreational or OUPV 6 Pak. Anyone else read it that way ??

I think you are correct Under. This is likely for Coast Guard Inspected vessels and these are the boats that are usually licensed to take more the 6 passengers.

Correct Gerry,
This applies to OUPV Vessels
♦ The lifesaving equipment must be CG approved and in serviceable condition. Although not required by regulation, if you carry an inflatable survival craft/life raft, it should be in serviceable condition with a current servicing/inspection date. 46 CFR 25.25-11

And for those of you following along at home, OUPV is Operator of Uninspected Passenger Vessel, or what is commonly referred to as a 6 Pack because Uninspected Vessels are restricted to only carry 6 passengers, not including the crew.

Still an additional expense for some of our charter friends who are now coast guard inspected for more than 6 passengers. Even though they do not go very far offshore, they do fish through December in cold water. Saftey is no accident.
