9/24 Eastmans Annie B - ANOTHER Fantastic Whiting & Ling Trip

Here is the short version

According to Nate it was not that good

200 Ling and 150 Whiting for 6 Anglers is not good

I said to Nate the Guys in Jersey would kill for that type of bad trip. The guys up North have no concept that Whiting were a main fishery in NY and NJ for many years

We could not get thru the Ling to get to the Whiting

We were actually catching Ling 7 feet off the bottom on the high hooks. We eventually moved away from the Ling and pounded the Whiting in a new area about 5 miles North from where we have been getting them

We are fishing 295 to 350 feet

The Key is hook 1 and leave it down there. Very rarely do I reel up less than 2 at a time and more times than not 3 to 4 at a time

Nice fishing Marc & your right we would kill for that type of fishing down here.

I have never seen soooooo many Big Whiting caught in the 3 to 4 lb range like this season and it gets better and better all the time. What is interesting is their is a large commercial fleet Whiting fishing about 15 miles from the area we are fishing. We are fishing deep water ledges off the edges and fortunetly for us the draggers would get their gear all torn up where we fish
