Canyon Report 9/18
We has another pretty good day I the canyon.
We started the trip fishing for Mahi.
It started out slow but after the first hour it was another day of "Mahi-Maddness".
We caught a boat limit of Mahi-mahi up to 24lbs.
After that we set up on a drift for tuna.
Mike Jung from Cape May NJ landed the first tuna. A 215lb big eye tuna.
We had several run offs after that that took off like a freight train hit it.
They practically spooled the reels before the line broke.
During the night it was slow. Around 330 am we landed a couple of longfin and lost a couple.
Just before sunrise a nice yellow fun was boated and a couple more lost.
After sunrise we relocated to a different area arena boated 7 more yellowfin and lost a few before it was time to head in.
Jeff Phillips from Westfield NY caught his limit of yellowfin and mahi.
Frank Pogue from Willingboro NJ caught 1 longfin and his limit of mahi.
Hector Barcia from Queens NY caught a yellowfin and his limit of mahi.
It looks good for upcoming trips.
More tuna are moving into the canyon every day.
The big Jamaica is scheduled to sail on 31hr trips at 7AM every Tuesday and Thursday.
21hr overnight trips sail 5PM every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
