made a return trip to virginia to fish with captain zack & mate john after my bday debacle. Took cousin jerry, chalie the monster & the dude with me. karma was with us as we arrived to gorgeous weather had a few orange crushs & jumped in the atlantic thursday night. Capt wanted to leave at 8 due to tstorms & 15-20knts predicted earlier so we wake up & capt calls us at 7:20 & asks us if we wanna go do breakfast as its still blowing 20knots. ate big southern breakfast got out about 9:15 into a bitchy chesapeake bay 2-4s stacked with a 5 for fun luckily we had it behind us for majority of time. got to the spot about 10 & wind was cranking. looked around in not perfect conditions made some blind casts after about 25 minutes had a taker but hook pulled after 5 minute fight, 10 minutes later landed a 34inch short. wind really picked up & we rode around with not seeing much except schools of rays & that damn turtle again! all of a sudden the wind dies around noon & the sun starts shining & the cobia start chewing! every time we saw em we hooked em.
i had 3, cousin jerry had 2 including a 50lb, dude & monster each caught there 1 & broke off a few. we also had a double header as me & jerry did the dance. once we had our boat limit (1 fish each) capt took us lookin for spadefish. unfortunately no luck but it was perfect ending to an epic day as we saw a shark cruising & then went for a dip in the bay in 78 degree water. we coulda caught & released cobia til our arms were sore as they were crushing bait as soon as it was pitched to them. was an amazing day with a great crew cannot thank captain zack & john for an awesome day none of us will ever forget.
