First, off, its 275 miles away, and I have NO intent on going down there and "stealing " anyone's tog hotspot.. It wasn't much of a hotspot anyway from what I remember..

Probably 30 years ago or so when I lived in Forked river, I recall there was a modest bay fishery for tog in Great Bay in the fall.. It was very weird,,, All mud, NO rocks, mussels, structure to speak of.. I guess there was a lot of small mud crabs or perhaps fiddlers along the muddy sod banks, and deeper salt creeks in Great Bay at Tuckerton, and some tog would go along those mud banks to feed on the crabs in spring and fall.. I used to just anchor along a steep mud bank in the deeper tidal creeks leading into the bay, and catch a few tog.. Never was "hot fishing" , at least not for me, but you could take a 14 footer there with a 6 horse, and catch blackfish in those days in very calm water with no other boats anywhere.. Just wondering if that fishery still exists at all, or if ts gone the way of the dodo like so many other fisheries we used to enjoy.. It was pretty cool actually, but quite different from blackfishing in or around rocks.. NO bergalls... anyone familiar with this type of blackfishing, and is it still there???..... bob
