I went on the http://www.njfishandwildlife.com/pdf/2015/sbbp_application.pdf site and it looks like you have to mail it in. Does anyone know if they are letting you do it online?
Thx,
Scotty

No online submission at this time, also you only get 1 tag for the year, its not like the old program where you could keep buying more after used one.

Thx WW. So do you need a tag to keep a slot fish between 24-28"?

Either a tag or trust your luck that you won't get checked. :D
It's a plastic, one use tag that gets fixed to the fish thru the mouth and gills, somewhat like a zip tie.

Reminds me of growing up in Michigan....grandma, mom and my sisters always got the first deer of the season.

When fishing on a party boat or at the dock and the fish is cleaned with tag attached and discarded. What do you do for the trip home or leaving the marina with undersized filet and no tag. Just to add to the confusion:(:(:(.

Good point Joe. Best is not discard the tag before you get home.

To be safe I'd keep the tag and head where it's attached. Better than getting a fine. There numbered so they know who caught what.

We will see how fast they go thru them.If you use the one they give you and they snail mail the next one the season will be over.

Maybe I'm reading the regs wrong, but from what I see, you only get 1 tag for the season, there is no "next one".

One other point that has not been mentioned is that if you do not report your catch to Div. of fish & wildlife you WILL NOT be able to get bonus tag the following year. You also must report all of your trips, weather you catch one or not.
FISH ON !!!!!
Safe to assume there is no charge for the tag?
And am I reading correctly that the tag is only good for a slot?
The reg. was written clear as mud as far as I am concerned.

I received a tag and the instructions in the mail because I had signed up and paid the $2 for a bonus permit earlier in the season.
Everyone who signed up should have been mailed a bonus tag. Anyone who did not sign up can mail in the application and a SASE but there is no fee. They wioll process in the order they receive and you are not guaranteed a tag. In addition, SOME Party Boats are in a program to sell the bonus tag on the boat. I am not sure which ones.
This is from the NJDEP website. http://www.state.nj.us/dep/fgw/bonusbas.htm
Effective September 1, 2015, the new SBBP regulations are as follows:
One fish 24" to less than 28"
Please note that the order of fish harvested does not matter.
New Jersey recreational striped bass regulations in all state waters are as follows:
One fish 28" to less than 43" AND one fish 43" or greater
Anglers are limited to one bonus permit only in 2015.
Good luck.
For everyones information....spoke with Port Republic this AM....no charge for bonus permit but there is a snag with the Post office. Seems that the tags are wider than regular and post office wants $2.00 postage. I was told that some post offices will mail them without a problem but others no.
Anyway, the young lady I spoke with said that I could take a chance and send the application with the self addresses stamped envelope, so I took the chance.
Good luck to all.
By the way was told bonus tag is only good for a slot sized Bass.
so wait you can take one slot 24-28
one between 28 and 43 and use the bonus to take a fish over 43?
Nope...............bonus tag is only good for a slot sized Bass.
That is what I was told yesterday.

Got mine in the mail today. I sent in the Self-addressed stamped envelop with just one stamp and was quite surprised when I saw the NJ Division of Fish& Wildlife added $2.05 cents postage - WOW !
Double WOW!

Still waiting for mine, my wife's, and kid's bonus tags. Only put one postage stamp on a #10 envelope for each request hoping it comes through.

Is using someone else's bonus tag for yourself legal or is that poaching?

Bonus tags arrived, like said above I put a postage stamp on the self addressed standard envelop. The government put in the difference of the postage due $2.05 on top of the stamp (thank you NJ).
Need for the weather to clear, get on boat and find a striper.
