Mushin Sportfishing

Mushin has been on stand-by all week to be available to fish the MRMTC Offshore Open. First off, KUDOS to the MRMTC and especially Tournament Committee for putting on another outstanding event! With the beautiful forecast for 9/3-4, and the horrible NE wind for Fri night/Saturday, it was a no-brainer to pick 9/3-4 as our fish days. With the leading tunas over 200# before we even left the dock, we knew we had to aim for the big bigeyes, so we adjusted our strategy accordingly for big fish. About 30 minutes after arriving, a small white marlin never got the memo and took our big-fish spread. Trolling through the day and into the evening had a couple other short strikes but no big eye. As night and daybreak came, the chunk bite on yellowfin, bigeyes, and longfin happened for many...we broke off 4 good fish on the lighter leaders, landed a sword, and saw and heard many other fish caught in the fleet. Trolling on Thursday had a few more white marlin and a small blue marlin up to inspect the spread. While we did not go to the scales, the great news is that CHUNKING AND JIGGING IS HAPPENING on good sized yellowfins and longfins, and still many bigeyes to keep things very very interesting.
