Took the boat to the canyon for the first time with a little help from some heavy hitters, Captain Lou Grazioso and he brought along the legend Al Ristori! What stories he had. He was a great listen.
Pulled in to the city of boats around 9:30 and let out some baits. Capt. Al was a trooper all night, diligently throwing out the chunks. At about midnight we came tight on a jig and a chunk almost simultaneously. We were able to get the one we wanted, landing a bigeye on the jig, pulling the hook on the chunk rod. Even though we couldn't quite land both, we were ecstatic because Lou turned us on to BIGEYE MANIA!! See what I did there :D
Also were able to grab a few school yft from the inshore grounds on the way in. Flat calm waters. Great first experience for our boat fishing the Hudson and a big thanks to captain Lou, and Al for blogging about his experience.
