After a very disappointing August, my first September flukin' trip was outstanding. Joined Henry and Ronnie this morning aboard Jakesdad's Honeybee out of Belmar. We were greeted by swarms of working birds inshore by Asbury Park, where every cast produced a Weakfish, Bluefish, or Herring (they were gorging on Rainfish). The Weakies were smaller than the ones we caught last week, hopefully it's a new body of Weakfish - a good omen for today and the future. . . After saving a few Herring and Blues for strip bait, we proceeded to the FLuke grounds where, at first, it appeared that the August shorts, Sea Robins and Skates were still all over the place. Then I hooked what I first thought was the bottom - until it started moving  I LOVE when that happens  Turned out to be a chunky 24"er, the best I've landed in a month. After that, the bite really turned on and we boxed more keepers and bigger keepers than we saw in all of August :) Hopefully the rest of September plays to form - there's only 3 weeks left in the season and my freezer still has plenty of room :o

That's too funny Ed ! Jeff was actually high hook when he fished HEnry's Honeybee @ the Shillelagh tourney - he's a puller when he's not the driver :p

Fish that size felt like the bottom to Larry, Had to exite him and tell him it was a mover and a shaker.
Water temp around 75 all day, went from no drift with 1 1/2 ounce bucktails to 8 - 10 sinkers. Most fish caught on bait tipped with gulp. Always fun to bust all day long.
