Hi folks, was finally able to get on an all day non-sponsor Fluke trip out of Ocean City MD this past Sunday. After dropping 16 new 100 pound cinder blocks to add to the local artificial reef program, we were off in 6 foot seats to another location. Arriving shortly after 9am and anchoring up, it was a lock and load Fluke drop like nothing I've ever seen. It was one of those days you only hear about the day after!! Having never before worked a wreck like this for Fluke had my doubts. But in working top and bottom rigged spros was rewarded with my first 3lb double completing my four fish limit in ten minutes! With a little work and shifting around, the remainder of the boat completed their limits by noon and we headed in. The pool fish was in the 6lb range along with plenty of 3-5 pounders around the rail.

I cant say enough about this non-sponsor and crew. These guys work their arses off to make sure you have a great trip and know what's good from the not so good.

I know this site is dedicated to NJ but will say, if you ever head down that way and want to look them up, hit me with a PM. You wont be disappointed!

Thanks for listening!

Nice catch , for many years fished OC MD , primarily offshore but on off days often chased other species like fluke & Stripers .
Never did well on fluke so this is a eye opening report for me, very nice catch !

Nice report. Although you mention a full day of fishing and you were back by noon. Did anyone mention that this would be the case. I, and this is just my opinion, would not be happy being back at the dock if I expected and paid for a full day of fishing. Sounds more like you had less then a half day of fishing.

I am glad you had a great catch but did it bother you that you paid for and were expecting a full day of is it just me?

i hear what you are saying about not being out all day, but if it were a fluke trip and they limited the whole boat... what exactly would you be expecting them to do? maybe they didn't have the gear aboard to just switch species

I guess I should have added more detail to - we headed back by Noon, think we arrived around 1:45pm. A shortened trip indeed, but nothing I'm going to complain about having been on. Worth every dollar!

My wrists and arms were shredded until it was over. The seas beat us up hard and took more than a few away from fishing. Those that remained at the rail ensured those folks also went home with their coolers full!!!

I know. It's a tough call. And I am NOT trying to start a shyte storm. I guess I am one of the few that would rather fish for the fun and sport. I don't care what I come home with which may put me in the minority.

I would rather play catch and release and have the opportunity to just fish. As stated this may put me in the minority. I would hate to be back by noon if I had planned to fish all day. Once again, just my opinion and still glad he had a good day

No worries Shrimpman! It's all good - Shrimp storm averted! I'd agree with you 99% of the time. This was that 1% trip!

no worries it's a good point to bring up. and i would agree about being cool with playing catch and release for almost any other fish... BUT NOT FLUKE!! end up playing way too damn much C&R for them as it is  :D

sounds like the captain had to try to please both the guys with rods bent at the rail as well as the guys who were bent over the rail themselves... like you said, tough call.

Congrats on your great trip. Sounds like you went out with Capt Monty,
He is one of the best and does more for our fishery than any other Capt I know.

My bad. Number one, I thought you were back at noon. Number two didn't realize you had some yackers on board  (the only good news there is that you can usually snag their lunch:D)

Number three, I'm glad you had a great trip!

I knew who the boat was as soon as you mentioned the reef building, nice report. I get email reports from Him (anyone can sign up), He def has some views on the seabass situation, builds artificial reef and I know he does a lot more down there for the recreational fishermen.

How about catch and release looking for jumbos? I always ask the question only because it's happened to me. I don't particularly enjoy driving several hours there and back for a few hours of fishing. Limit or not
