with the poor fluke fishing, my father and i decided to run out to the rough stuff and drop some crabs down. Could not have asked for a better day, in fact it was too nice and we couldnt keep tight on the anchors. Loads of bites on all pieces today. We had small blackfish (8-12 inches) , 2 keepers that were just over 15 inches that were sent back to swim another day, and loads of huge seabass. If the seabass season was open it we could have had a full box. Around 11 we had 5 or so crabs left so we made one last stop in the pits of hell trying for some big fish. Dropped the anchor and it was game on between blackfish and big seabass. I broke off a hog that i couldnt stop after i got him 10 feet off the bottom and we decided to call it a day. Felt great to take a break from fluking as the fluking has been very stressful up in the bay lately. sadly i didnt see any marks of triggers on this trip. Hopefully they come in soon.

On a side note:
Blackfish only ate crabs, drop down a clam and the undesirables move in.

Thanks for the pre season blackfish update. Chomping at the bit to start catching some blackfish. HAve not fished much being i recently moved so planning on fishing quite a bit this fall/winter from (MA, RI, NY, NJ, DE, MA,VA) anywhere they are biting i will be going in search of the ONE.

Blackfishing has been pretty good, i think the water has warmed up just a little too high for any big fish to chew. many shorts and fish that are just over 15inches. once the water cools off and the seabass thin out i think the big boys will chew.
