Fished the oil rigs in Grande Isle and beat um up real good. Mangroves to 8lbs and Red Snapper also. Hughe triggers and a bunch of mystery fish. Went thru 130 live croakers in 3 hours. Just wild fishing. Pics to come in a while.

Stopped at the shrimp boat as they docked.$ 2.50 a lb for jumbos! By the way the politicians in this state fight for the recs. as well as the commercial fisherman.

Nice catch, will be down in 6 weeks, you'll have to take a road trip ! Isn't amazing how the southern states recognize the value of recreational fisherman and the northern states seem to go out of the way to invent ways to punish the recs ??

Capt. Sal.

Nice report and great pic. That trigger is huge! We've caught only a few in NJ but man they have to be one of the tastiest fish in the ocean. Nice to live in a state where the politicians actually perform in a manner to support their constituents as opposed to profiting in that role at their constituents expense.

Thanks for sharing your experience.

They are in a debate with the federal government over the boundry for state waters. Louisiana says state waters go out to 9 miles and the feds say 3 miles. The fish and game officers say it is nine miles and will not mess with recreational fisherman. The coast guard does not board boats like in New Jersey looking for stripers. Red Snapper is open in state waters but closed in federal waters. The limit on speckled trout is 25. Red Fish is five with one over 28". Liberal to say the least but a healthy fishery and a darn good economy. What has Christie done for you lately or ever for that matter?

Although they have a salt water fishing license the money is well spent! I don't mind paying for it if it is spent correctly. I hope to take you and your better half there in the near future. Retirement is good but I must admit I miss chasing those stripers lol PS My son Capt Jamey went Sunday and had a limit of Mangrove snappers for him and three of his buddies in three hours!
