Togging is what I do most and it's coming soon. Unfortunately, my feet are always cold. I bought the Viking insulated boots but they don't keep my feet warm. I currently use my sorel snow boots but they aren't totally waterproof. Does anyone have any suggestions for a very warm waterproof boot?

Govt surplus "bunny boots" (the white ones). I also suffer from cold feet, but not in those babies, made for standing guard duty in Korea at night in January. And they give good traction on the deck. Mine were about $60, brand new on eBay.

Look a muck boots. They have different grades of warmth. I use them for sitting in a tree stand all day thru the winter and also on over night party boats during winter.

Mucks or bust! Got a pair for Xmas for the ice season and they kept my feet warm on negative degree days. I got the mid leg series. They have a hi leg series that goes up to the knee, too. One pair of cotton socks or wool depending on how you sweat and you should be golden.

Listen to Capt Lou. He is Knows his stuff. When he says he has used them all he is not kidding. When he was your age they did not have winter boots way way back then. He would have to use the hide of the Wolly Mammoth and wrap that around his feet to keep warm in the winter:D
I have a pair of Bogs i bought from West Marine about 4 years ago when i was in a pinch and needed to get a pair for trip i had that day. I fish throughout the winter in my Big Tog hunt. They turned out to be the best pair of Winter boots i have ever worn.

Where do you usually tog out of? if you want the lightest, the warmest, and cost efficient [$50] pair of winter tog boots, look for the Marlin Green Deck Boots [Model# M1103]. They are insulated and fully waterproof. You won't be disappointed.

Mike 1010 got it right about the "Bunny Boots". I wore those things on the Upper Peninsula of Michigan at the now defunct Kincheloe AFB. They will keep your feet warm and if I remember correctly I think there was an air portal which allowed you to pump air in when it was going past 10 below zero or you would be outside for hours.

...I think there was an air portal which allowed you to pump air in when it was going past 10 below zero or you would be outside for hours.
That's a common misconception about the air portal. Its real purpose is to allow pressure equalization between the boot layers and a non-pressurized airplane cabin: Open on ascent, close after descent.

Mike1010 is correct.
The valves were meant to stabilize the the pressure inside the boots when in flight. Most of the boots with valves had the words "keep closed unless in flight" surrounding the valve. If you left the valve open and water got inside, you ruined the boots. That is because the boots were rubber inside and out, with a 1/2" wool felt insulation
The boots were developed by the U.S. government during the 1950's, and were used by the military into the 1980's.
They were available in black (for cold, dry climate) and were called "Mickey Mouse" boots, and white (for cold, wet climate) and were called "bunny boots". They were both available with and without valves, but the boots with the valves were rated for colder climates, and the white boots were warmer than the black.
The white boots had a rigid sole, and the black boots had a flexible sole.
The boots were meant to be worn with one pair of military cushion sole socks.
I have the black boots both with and without the valves. I have used the black boots without the valves on a hunting trip in -21 degrees F!
The white boots without the valves are the hardest to find.

Bata Brand: Black - Mickey Mouse or White Snow Bunny Boots. You can get them new at an army surplus, eBay or Amazon prime for less then $100.00. Best investment: waterproof, fully rubberized so you don't worry about clam snot or crabs guts messing up your footwear. Best part I don't think about my feet getting uncomfortable on a cold February cod trip.
