First off, today's fishing was a pick on shorts and keepers. Couple nice fish for our Charter, Mike Vandonbergh and Park Ave Acura. Many first timers in the Group who were happy to catch a fish or two, and the guy who took home $285 that never fished before.....I'm sure he loves it now!
Now the Bad stuff... I gotta say, I'm pretty amazed, that after reading Dave Daily's post on the Fund raising event for the SSFFF this Friday, that we can't find 50 guys who can support this event....Private boat owners are welcome, maybe you can keep the boat at the dock for a day and jump on board. Were fighting for you and everyone else here. Seems it's always the same 25-30 guys who believe and support anything that has to do with fishing.
Thanks to the same Charter Boats and Tackle shops that always come through...even though their year has been crap also, they still manage to help!
I don't see one Gift Certificate or donation from the Boats in Atlantic Highlands, nothing? Fluke is our life here guys. The Dorothy B and Captain Kevin Bradshaw wrote a check for $500, at 70 years old Captain Bradshaw is pissed enough to still want to fight the battle!
With all things we know and love being slowly taken away, to not see thousands of people screaming and yelling about the BS being shoved down our throats, blows me away....
We will have our event, we will make a few bucks, in the end I gotta ask Myself.....Why are "WE" doing this if not many give a crap?
Thank you to all those great customers (mine and several others) who believe and have donated way beyond what I could imagine, you guys are the Salt of the Earth and have earned a Special place in my Heart. I'll never forget......

Ron,
I also don't get it. The same group plus or minus a few are always the same.
I will be tied to the dock with my boat, and on yours supporting our rights to be heard.
Over the past years I have made many friends since I became involved. Never knew of your passion until I met you at one of the first meetings in Belmar.
Have learned alot both about the fisheries and politics. Did want to learn about the fisheries, politics on the other hand I wish I could flush it.
Guys come out, tie your boats up for the day, enjoy being with a group that has a passion for the sport and take a bus mans holiday. Who knows you might pick something up. You might also meet some old friends and make some new ones I HAVE!
Ron looking forward to fishing Friday and enjoying , nice once in awhile to just not having to do anything but fish.

Not a dam thing new here! One suggestion might be to force feed this program & take a note from everyone else has who seeks funds for decent causes ! When u collect boat fares the mates could ask if u would wish to donate anything to FFF fund !
Maybe this method may shame some into better understanding of R plight ! I get
his approach @ grocery stores & other establishments all the time , why not party & charter boats ?
I know tackle shops in the past have put out jars dedicated to this find on counters etc.
If we don't organize this aspect of donations then we'll all be tied to the docks!

Can not make the trip, but my $100 will be mailed to you tomorrow. Aside from the individual boaters, what about groups like the CCA, LBI charter association, Cape May Charter Group, Commercial fishing groups and co-ops, boat manufacturers, etc, etc, WHERE IS THEIR CHECK?

Got some information recently on the fishing dilema. Winchester, Remington contribute millions of dollars to the NRA and gun lobbys. From a good source I know that Shimano contributed a huge gift of $100 to the fishing cause. Things run in this country through big lobbiests in Washington. Hate to be a doom predicter but the fishing industry is doom with the reguations and lack of support in Washington. What the local guys can come up with is nothing need big industry to support the causes. With no young people taking up fishing I think in ten years the party boat and charter business will be toast. Hope that does not happen but it does not look good.

It's a fact that 10% of the people do 90% of the work. Found that out from my work in other associations. Yes it pissed me off that they benefitted from our work, but it was very satisfying knowing that we accomplished our goal.

I love to fish and hunt and do it every chance i get.this fight has been going on for decades.when they first put a size limit on fluke all the elders said if we let them do it they will just keep taking, man were they right.i support all the peeps that are fighting for our rights to fish and hunt.i think most people are just tried of not seeing anything done.we march,we write letters,we email and we make phone calls, nothing!!!!.we give money,we donate gifts,we donate time, still we see nothing but regs that are taking some more away from us.everyone has a limit
as to what they can give and how long they can give for.when the nra dose something they let the world know and they do it to let everybody know that they mean business and will keep fighting for the gun owners rights.what do the fisher peeps see.
The see an article in the app that says the party boat business is
a dying industry.papers from all over the sate had the artical.were are all our elected officals????why are they not coming to the aide of the peeps that need them.what we need to due to stop pussy footing around and hit them were it hurts.what if we got 50 peeps to go on a party boat and have everyone keep 1 small fish.we then call the co's and let them start writting tickets.we keep doing it until the court system
is clogged up and sick of seeing us.we call the local news to be there also so when the ask us why we can say it on tv.we can say how our elected officials have not helped.its pretty clear that we are not going to get any help any other way.

Ron,
A boat i fish for Tog on down south does what they call a reef raffle every trip. Basically a 50/50 raffle each trip and half the proceeds go to the reef foundation. Pays for many concrete blocks we've dropped. Wouldn't be a bad idea to give it a try for raising money for this cause. It's nice when you win too because you can get a free trip without winning the pool.

Agree 100% I brought the same thing up years ago and it went nowhere. I have never gotten a fish and game ticket for anything so I can take a one time hit, who else is willing?

X2. This approach really works and even 50cents or dollar per purchase can accumulate to a respectable amount every month.
