Capt Alan and Mates Anthony and Buddy had Tom S and his group out for their first offshore adventure trip with us. These guys inshore fish with us every year, but we finally got them to get to the blue water! We told them they were in for a day of trolling...and we trolled all day! We had a big blue marlin on for a couple of exciting jumps before he broke off. We went pot hopping and gathered a bunch of 5-10 pound mahi. But we waited all day for the right bite - and the bigeye put the anglers to the test - and one they will not soon forget. 50 minutes later, Anthony darted a beautiful 240# class bigeye, which made a trip home to Manasquan with us.

Getting that beast to the boat in 50 min is impressive! Congrats!

Thanks on that! As for landing the fish, in non-tournament situations we encourage our charter anglers to switch out when tired to keep a fresh set of hands on the rod. Also, credit goes to the mates in the cockpit who always make sure they have an angler "on deck" who is properly fitted with belt and harness to step in and take over the fight.
