started where we left off last weekend but the wind just wouldn't cooperate. We did what we could and managed 2 keepers on bucktails, one nuclear chicken and one pink. Not many shorts but we each dropped what felt like bruiser fluke coming up...very frustrating, they just weren't biting great in the area we were.

We desired to check out the cocktail bluefish action and it was red hot! They were everywhere demolishing the shad schools. We had a blast ripping them in by burning small lures over the top. They'd come in the boat and barf baby shad all over the place. They would fly right out of the water chasing the lure down and was awesome on light tackle. We kept a few for a batch of delicious bluefish crab cakes.

Great job, I'll say. That wind was not friendly at all, out last weekend only to catch shorts all day. Question where did you guys find some cocktail action?, that would of dampened the hit over the weekend.

Cocktail blues blanketing the back bay feasting on tiny shad. They saved our day for sure.

I'll be headed out tomorrow. What were you throwing at the blues? Ava 17s? 007s?

hey shrimpman, your pm box is full, i couldn't send you a message....
they were coughing up little shads maybe the size of an average person's thumb. we tried a few different things but they wouldn't hit some things and hands down the best lure was a small 1oz crippled herring. i'd say anything small and silver reeled fast and jerky near the surface would work. that's what we did with the silver crippled herring. we even tried a chartreuse one and it didn't work nearly as well. small, silver, and fast worked for us.
