We headed down to Beach Haven last Wednesday to fish the Beach Haven White Marlin Invitational and have some fun as usual. After a great captains dinner we got some shut eye and headed out a 2am in hopes of a day 1 tournament winner.....well after day 1 all we had to show was one white that hopped off after 30 seconds on a tuna setup. We took our lay day on Friday to get some rest after 5 days of fishing and rethink our strategy for the last fish day. Headed out again at 2am and made a southern turn to the latest bigeye bite in hopes of a better day. Lines in..............7 hours later.........not a touch! Made a last hour captain switch and moved to unexplored area only to turn around and watch 3 bigeyes blow up in the spread...with no hookups! Then BAM, long rigger down and we were tight. Made quick work of the #140 Bigeye and called in the only tuna of the day. Snuck into the scales and took some money with the last weigh in of the tournament! Thanks to Canyon Reels, Fish Razr, Lobo Marine Products, East Coast Hooked, Laceration Lures, and Cortland line for there tremendous support! Back to charters this week.
