Right back at it today w a full day fluke trip w/ a 5 man crew.
Started out where we had them good yesterday and had an ok bite early w a lot of shorts and a few keepers. By 9 we lost the drift as the wind completely crapped out so we took a ride to the rough stuff -- very slow bite just another keeper or two (and a few very lucky seabass) and just a few shorts as we hopped around hoping to find SOMETHING. From 9:30 till noon time things looked VERY bleak for us...
Miraculously, an ESE breeze kicked in and we worked our way back to where we started (since we knew the fish were there - we just needed a drift! -- we also got a heads up from a friend!) and the bite was on. Basically the same as yesterday -- Lots of shorts, and every drift 1-3 keepers came up (loooong drifts) -- best drift we had 6 keepers. Lots of nice fish 20-23".... Fish were very aggressive and were crushing the baits - but for whatever reason we missed lots of them (???). By 230 the wind turned dead south and things shut off.
Still a good day - 22 keepers, 18 of them over 20" a bunch of 3-5#ers and the biggest by john at 7# - he also had his limit; Pat and Pat Sr. had 4 each.. Real nice day w/ a great crew!!!!
