After doing some cleaning, my father and I took the boat out around 11 today. No wind made it tough to start, but the bay was flat, ocean was flat, and it was HOT. With a .0 to .4 drift speed to start, we knew it was going to be tough in the bay. My dad decided to take us to one of his favorite little rock ledges and after that it was game on. We pulled in over our limit of fluke to my big one at 25 inches. We only kept 6 nice fish ranging from 18-21 inches (why kill so many if you're not gonna eat em) Fish were spitting shrimp all over the deck. After we had some fish in the boat, we decided to run back home and get out of the heat. We made a couple of experimental drifts over by chapel hill channel and found a good amount of 16 inchers as well as 3 more keeper fish to 18.25 to 19 inches. All fish were taken on pink shine and neon green 6inch gulp grubs. Nice short trip, happy we finally found them again as the fluke gods havent been on our side the past 2 or 3 trips.
Recap: Ocean was much better with size in length, but bay fish were FAT! All fish were caught casting small bucktails with pink shine and neon 6 inch grubs. I was extremely surprised that the deadstick had 0 keepers today, and we only had 1 trash fish which was fantastic, even though my dads "monster fluke" was really a monster skate!
