Got out with Jeff & son this morning on the Grateful Dad. Game plan was to stay in the back of Raritan Bay where there was decent action this week. Optimism was abundant as we saw 3 party boats and a small fleet in the usually empty Triangle. Optimism quickly turned to reality as the drift was slow and the bites even slower. We did manage to put three keepers in the box though :) I even got one on my tie-dyed bucktail :p

It's amazing that everytime I'm out on the water I see fishermen I've befriended from this gr8 site. Saw Doc Skollmann waving to us from the pulpit of one of the nearby head boats. Met Johnny Bucktails and Dad back at the Marina and got to ogle their amazing new ride. It looks like it's flying even when moored

And finally I got a chance to break out my Independence Day Hat again so that Duffman can get a good laff :) I love this pastime and I'm grateful to have made so many friends from this site.

It's never a dull day on the Grateful Dad. Larry said it all, the day started slow and then tapered off. Still was a nice day on the water, plenty of good conversation and ballbusting between the very few fish.
Party boats seemed to be doing OK, although most of the fish caught were tossed back from what we saw.
Then we got back to the dock, and that hat came out. Oh dear God...

I'm glad he wore that on your boat, even Larry would have a problem getting into my cabin. Glad you caught a few, it was a little better down the beach.

I was able to ice a keeper early in the first drift but for the next hours was just shorts for me until we moved a bit to the east where I was able to box another 2. All 3 keepers were between 19-20"s. Pool winner was #7.4 with another 7 & a 6.12 boated. Fluke were stuffed with grass shrimp. Good to see the fish in the back and hopefully they'll stay there a while.

Was just informed that they had a#9.10 today in the same area.
