FISH STIX - Fluke Reports to 8lbs

[Fish Stix]

The past few fluke trips this week have been tough catching only handfuls of keepers and some shorts.

Even Thursday 7/2 was very tough. Had an Open Boat crew of 6 very good flukers. Full moon put a beating on us with major current screaming from the north with drifts around 1.3 to 1.5 knots with no wind! The fish were there, and they did bite, but were not coming back for more. Very hard to catch them. Been going through a lot of gulp! Anyway the guys worked hard all day and only boated 8 good keeper fluke, 8 Seabass and 2 ling.

Friday 7/3 we had a girls trip, except poor Matt! 5 girls and him, ouch! Thy showed up with no rods, gulp or anything. Set them up with all kinds of Jigging World rods with Avet Sx reels. Rigged them with bait rigs and 10oz sinkers because we had that current again. Kept them out of the rocks and did catch some shorts. Have them a shot at some sticky bottom, let's just say we were back where we started very quickly. Sure enough we found some nice sized fish. They were either short or very quality sized keepers. Had well over 60 shorts and 12 keepers by 1:30pm when we called it a day. One fish was 7+lbs and another 8lbs. Rest were 2-4. Beauties. Very fun crew who had a very fun day of catching. Being there first time fishing. And for Matt and Amanda, their first time ever on the Ocean. There's no ocean in Iowa, that's weird. Don't know how they live there......

my dad a very good fluker???? well hell catch more than I will this summer haha. Keep it up Kris, hope to be back in action mid September!!
