Tenacious Sportfishing

Took my son and some regular customers to the Hudson for an overnighter after waiting from Monday for the weather to get decent-if you call scattered showers and thunderstorms decent. Afternoon trolling produced nothing except Mahi in 71 degree gray water. We rigged for shark and tuna chunking at 8:30pm with no action until midnight when a blue shark took a deep bait. At 5:00am we began trolling and our efforts produced nothing but mahi. After 9+ hours with no tuna bites we declared an official tuna skunk and headed for home. The good news was Roland, Gary, Rich, Jacque, Bryan and John enjoyed the first trip offshore with some showers and calm seas, except for some northeast chop coming home. They had some rod bending and enjoyed the trial run of our two dredges which looked awesome.
