So, within the past month I have fish Lakes Champlain & the St. Lawrence River for some trophy bass! Biggest fish from both trips came to 4.9lbs from the SLR frogging. Well, yesterday, after getting home from the SLR the night before, went out at 4:30am for a morning bite but only fished until 10am. Ended up with a few bass but this biggin clobbered my pop-x... 4.11lbs.. biggest bass thus far for me this season. And to think, caught at my home lake... what gives?!?! lol
She was a skinny fatty if that makes sense, certainly post spawn but if she was pre she would have been 5lbs +!

Good looking BUCKETMOUTH JerryC! Sure the action is more intense and steady up in the north country at times. But it does feel good knowing you can come home and whack a BIGGUN! GREAT FISH!!!:D

I've fished some blue-ribbon bass lakes in my time, Champlain included. Let me tell you, just because you go to some lake on a list, it doesn't mean you're going to be bailing lunkers all day. Happy you caught a pig on your home waters, that's always a thrill!

Yep the TV fishing shows suck you in.
Fished the St. Lawrence a few times, caught some nice fish.
Fished all over Alaska for two weeks and caught some nice fish as well.
But not like the one week of fishing TV show, edited down to 20 minutes plus commercials.
Also could be I just suck at fishing.....

I hear you man, I fished with a guide down in florida A few years back. The guy was next to useless but that's another story...a started ignoring him and just doing my own thing. Finally started putting fish in the boat but nothing over 2.5 lbs. needless to say my rule now is to never pay to fish out of state for species I can catch in good old nj!
