pondering how bad the traffic heading south will be early afternoon on the 4th

I'd really like to hit the highlands evening trip

I would check what evening boat you are going on, most of the highlands boat that sail afternoon do a fireworks cruise! I say most because I don't know for sure. It would suck to sit in traffic and have no trip though
