The large charter boat Mi-Jo (NJFishing.com sponsor) from Atlantic Highlands generously offered to take patients from the VA hospital in Lyons NJ out for a day a Fluke fishing.
When the Mi-Jo was built it was designed with wide walkways on deck to accommodate wheelchairs. It also has a ramp to easily and safely get wheelchairs on and off the vessel.
Everyone caught fish today (6/30) including about a hundred short Fluke, some Sea Robins and Dogfish. Only a few keeper Fluke were landed. They well be served tomorrow to the patients in the Lyons VA’s Hospice unit.
Everyone; patients, VA staff, the crew of the Mi-Jo and volunteers had a great day with lots of action and laughs.
A huge thank you to Capt Mike Scardigno and his wife Dee for donating their time, vessel, fuel, bait, tackle and their crew which enabled a very deserving group of Veterans to have an amazing day on the water!
