Not good...I wonder if the weather/conditions had anything to do with this.
Seems like the wind didn't get nasty until later in the day.

Ive been kayak fishing for about 10 years. Saftey is #1.
PFD, personal flotation device, aka life jacket.
There has never been a day I never wore one. Nice sunny day, dont matter, wear it.
Just like in a baot, those sunny days can go from nice to real spotty like the flick of a light switch. Without an engine to get you to a safe place quickly kayaks have no chance.

I was going to take the kayak down to the shark river tomorrow for the first time I have had it in saltwater... Double thinking that now. Does shark river ever get nasty though? I know the inlet mouth does and wouldn't go there in the kayak.

It can definitely get very choppy. I have kayaked that river for years.

I have never gone without a jacket. I was a competitive swimmer - and i have ever gone without a vest............
Condolences.... just trying to make sure no one else goes without a vest.

Easy paddling in the back, but if you intend to fish between the bridges be prepared for exercise, the current will have you drifting quickly

Be careful of the boat traffic in SRI and current runs hard near bridges.

I just passed up fishing there on Tuesday due to the wind. And by the looks in the pictures it was fairly snotty when the recovered him. The salt ain't no joke!
