Well i tell you what guys there are yellowfin in the local canyons up north. With it being the weekend we decided to avoid the crowd at the infamous wilmington and go to some new water much closer that no one had fished yet. From what we heard it was the right call. We worked by ourselves basically the whole trip without another boat in sight and had a steady pick of yellowfin all in the 50lb class. Had just as many miss the hook as we did boat but that's what gulf stream yellowfin do. Drifted the night and had two makos, kept one for the crew and the other swam away freely. We also had a bigeye come up and take the flatline, empty the spool and then break off which made for some good excitement.
Ended the trip with 14 yellowfin (7 were boated the others were released), a nice mako, a lost eyeball and a missed white.
Next open boat is this fri-sat, call 609-354-2734 to hop on.
