capt's jimmy gahm and dave bender took joe"janice" natoli and brian kimmons
of brielle out to the canyon to start off the 2015 tuna season. joe has been
fishing offshore for 40 years and his former boat the janice made hundreds of
trips to the deep over the years. joe sold the boat a few years ago and we were
excited to host the trip. we started the day off catching a forty pound
yellowfin and releasing some smaller ones. we didn't have any action sharking at
night, but back on the troll at 4am we got the bite we came for. joe hooked into
a bigeye and after a long battle we boated a 180 bigeye, our first of the new
season. shortly thereafter we had a flurry of tuna action and caught some more
yellowfins. after a dry spell brian landed his first white marlin and we
released her after a few snap shots. we retuned to port with three nice
yellowfins, the bigeye, two gaffer mahi and a white release. we released several
small tunas.
