Had Jon Frankel on for his second charter in 2 weeks. Was a little concerned about the forecast but once we got outside it was pretty nice - basically 2-3' even with the breeze from the ENE.

Set up on a wreck about 10 miles off - had instantaneous life and a good bite of shorts mixed with a few keepers. Then, a dive boat showed up, wedged himself on the piece (the wreck is LARGE), sent down his guys and our bite was over. First time I've ever seen such a classless and DANGEROUS act on the ocean when there are other wrecks - GOOD WRECKS - in a 2 mile radius around this one. Ridiculous.

We then Made a few drops on those aforementioned pieces when our fish went into hiding, and got a few. Then set up on some rocks up the line a bit more and had a tough time staying still on the hook with the wind and the wacky current - so we went up on the drift and picked pretty well. Bounced around, this area, and just inshore, the rest of the day (only dropping the hook one more time) and had generally good action... Some pieces had loads of life, others were barren.

It seemed like we caught the keepers better on the drift today -- loads of double headers, several double header keepers, and lots of nice quality fish to 3.5#. The guys worked very hard for the crew limit, and we finished just 5 fish shy of a full boat limit (85 in the box) - also had 1 nice 24" keeper cod by Kurtis, 2 ling, and a couple of short fluke caught by Steve O. Lucanus jigs worked well as well as the regular fresh clams...

Real nice day with a great crew, and a box full of fish!!

Fred - I tried every channel he could've been on and never got him. He was so close I hollered over to him as we were pulling up the hook. Never seen such a blatant disregard for ettiquette AND safety!

Capt Gonzo handled it very professionally. Bubbles all around our boat, they were directly underneath us, and out captain was trying to warn the dive boat that we are going to move. Dive boat captain was told we are going to pull our hook and wanted to make sure we didn't hurt any of his divers. Dive boat captain laughed and said don't worry his people are good. He was smiling and laughing with his mate at us over his conquering moment.

I know jack $hit about diving but I would guess to say that this Capt put his divers in harms way yesterday. There is an inherit risk with diving or even fishing offshore. Why raise the risk of injury to your crew with a careless move like this? Yes it sucked we had to move from a productive spot...sucked even more that one captain would do this to another.

Had the same thing happen to us last year. Seems to me these guys think they have a right to be on a piece above anyone else. First come first serve, move on like we do when they are there first!

Jon - gonna make it be known the only reason I moved is because we COMPLETELY stopped catching fish and the readings absolutely shut off. Guessing the guys that were down there shooting at them had them running for cover
