So I am stranded in NYC with no car and no fishing. Is there any place to fish in New Jersey that is train accessible? I probably sound desperate, but 3 months without freshwater fishing is killing me.

Go to Central Park, rent a boat, problem solved.

If into saltwater, hit up rockaways for some surf flounder and blues.

If desperate to go out to NJ take a train to New Brunswick and hit up the mighty Raritan its about 10 minute walk from train station.

If you want to fish NY but outside the NYC, take a train to Harriman State Park and hike up to the lake there.

Also Hudson is right there so you can always catch something. Just not sure if it will be fish.

Hmm,

Pelham Park in Bronx would be my other go to point for salt in NY. Or take a ferry to SI and fish off there.

You can always jump on the boats at Sheepshead Bay or hit up Kingsborough College and fish of the point there.

Rockaways been good to me as far as flounder and sharks but its been awhile since I fished there.

Take Port Jervis Line to Harriman and hike up to the Forrest Lake or Lake Tiorati. Probably will be the only soul fishing.

Or go the Port Jervis for some Delaware river fishing. Cant miss that.

.

How did this happen?
I think I would die of depression if I had to live in New York City.

Fish for what is available. I would recommend Squirrel Fishing in Central Park.

Hop on the Raritan Valley line. There are several stations near the Raritan River. Also, the Lebanon station is close to Round Valley.
