Both am and pm trips out of Brielle. I had at least 30 shorts and plenty of keepers including a 7lb 2oz for the monthly pool lead. A couple 4 pounders also. You had to be bucktailing and fishing hard and you did well. Bait dragging and day dreaming didn't work so well. Cold water or not sooner or latter they had to start biting.

Nice to hear! Do you know what the water temp was? Where you fishing close to the beach?

We were out about 5-6 miles. Friday one of the guys had a thermometer for dropping to the bottom and it read the mid 50's but I'm not sure if it was perfectly accurate.

I had 68 to 70 on the surface in 40-50 feet yesterday

Surface doesn't count. Fluke are laying on the bottom.

We read 70 in some spots on Sunday on the surface. When we dropped down (when we were fluke fishing) ~4 miles off the fluke we caught came up ice cold - my guess is the bottom temp is around 50 or so.

Even offshore, there are still plenty of cod on wrecks that should now be moving off - still seems "april-ish" out there with how cold the bottom is.
