Was out on the tow boat Saturday and was amazed at what I saw.
West of NWS Earle in Raritan Bay was the Cock Robin, Jamaica and Miss Belmar. Was our fishing that good?

It's more like a southern invasion........of wind! The constant south winds have dropped the ocean temps over the last week by over 10 degrees.

I agree. Fishermen do not like taking boat rides for the sake of the ride. The Captains are doing what they have to do to get their clients on the best fishing possible. Kudos to the Captains for spending the extra time and money to produce for their clients.

I watched everyone of them drive right over a massive school of giant gators that we played with all morning. Could have saved them selves 15 miles of driving if they were paying attention.

Water temps up to the Highlands Bridge have been in the 40's the past week and a half.....all those Blues made their way into the bay chasing the only food source, bunkers. (Haven't seen any Rain fish or Sand eels yet.)
It doesn't matter where you go or how far you have to travel to catch them, as long as we all produce. Hell, in the fall the past few years I've been to Belmar, Asbury Park and as far as Jones inlet to get it done.....it's what we all do.
From the amount of customers on the Southern boats, it hasn't seemed to hurt them in the quest.

It was quite a sight to see all of those boats in Raritan Bay, as well as several others not mentioned from Point Pleasant Belmar and Sheepshead bay. I went down the reach in the early afternoon to check out the fleet which had worked its way slowly west. We were fluking and quickly switched to jigs when I saw the blues flying over the rails. It was like a 9th inning rally out there as the people were screaming and cheering as gaffs were flying and blues were leaping out of the water. They were in an especially acrobatic mood as the many we hooked put on quite an aerial show as well. When each of the boats sound three whistles, the fares cheered loudly once more as if to say it was a successful day. It was quite a spectacle and nice to see so many people having a blast. Lets count our blessings that we have bluefish to put a bend in the rod when nothing else will sometimes. I know many of us miss them when they put on the disapearing act that they do in certain years.
