Hi all,

I've noticed for several years now that there is a small 35' commercial trawler that frequents the lower Hudson river basically off mid town Manhattan. I am really curious if it's a research boat or if these guys are actually commercial fishing. I would love to see what they pull up in there nets, or anything weird and unexpected.

Google "Lower Hudson River Fishing Trawl Results". You see thousands of results. The NY DEC, NJDEP and other agencies frequently do assessments to check on the status/health of fish populations in NY Harbor and vicinity.

Some of the results are published including species and number caught. It is very interesting what they find in some of the trawls.

They are kind of chewy, but i think Andrew Zimmerman had a Coney Island special where they used them as casings to make seafood sausage!
