Out this morning to try and find some bass. Made our run down south from AH. Set out the trolling rigs like everyone else and go about our business. Next thing ya know, here comes a sportfishermen going hell bent to the north THROUGH the group! Not even throttle back...

I just want to know if it's me or do more of the NJFISHING members see a change in the way people act?

Nothing new here this unwarranted boat behavior has been going on since I've been on the ocean many many moons!
It may be getting more dangerous since the speed of some of these rigs in the hands of inept operators creates danger for all.
Defensive boating ur best bet !

For the most part I hate people. There is no respect or self responsibility any more

I feel your pain, I have even had guys try to knock me off my anchor for no reason except they couldn't maneuver there vessel properly. If all of us do the right thing hopefully we can decrease that from happening. Be safe and always be prepared to get out of the way.

Bad drivers in general are more prevalent today and that goes for boating as well... ever seen Lake Hopatcong on summer weekends?

If you fished from a kayak you'd hate even more people.

Saddest part is that probably most of them do not think they are doing anything wrong!

There is always one... we even have one down in Barnegat. I think everyone has cursed this guy Tom out who lives down there. I watched him once drive full steam right past a small 16ft with 2 kids in the boat and almost swamp them. Some people have even visited his dock and threaten him and things still haven't changed. Like someone else said, its all about them. If you plan to fish this weekend, be careful out there!

Good boaters are like trophy fish. Very rare.

Two years ago, I was anchored on Romer Shoal and a guy trolled into my anchor line and slid into my bow. There wasn't another boat around me for a 1/4 mile in any direction. He ended up paying for the damage but when I asked "What the F's the matter with you". He replied "I only left the helm for a minute".

I think sometimes it's easier to answer the question "what's not wrong with people!"

I agree, more time I spend around people the more I like my dogs!
I know the name of the sport fisherman that went blasting through us, I won't spell it out but it starts with O and ends with a W.
Pretty boat but the owner is pretty DUMB!
I'm sure he would be the first to yell, holler and piss and moan if someone did that to him!
If he was 30 yards away it was a lot!!

Remember that cigarette boat a few years ago the went aground on Long Island and killed someone? We were out that day too and that NITWIT went full bore through a bunch of boats in the FOG!!
More money then brains I guess...

Give them the hand wave to slow down and if they don't a six ounce bank may do the trick. If its a small boat riding thru in a fleet wait till he gets set raise the prop top to plow and give them a taste.... Works great rock and roll....

Don't be shocked, I could tell you stories that would make your head spin with the lack of Respect out here.....After 38 years nothing has changed, it's only gotten worse with those who haven't a clue.
More to follow when I right my book!:D

I guess I'm the smart ass of the group. I always yell and give them the finger. Then I return the favor 3 fold unless I see children on board. I will go 3 times there speed and get 3 times closer while flipping the bird. I guess that's not the smartest option but I guess until the see what happens when they do that they will never learn.

I had a charter come out and toss his cast net right next to me once. He was 20 yards away and then he proceeds to get in the gas driving in circle while his net sank. Rude clowns. Didn't expect that out of a charter. Unreal.

This is one of many reasons I sold my boat after many years of fishing in the ocean. Between the a-holes on the water and the regulations a lot of the fun has been taken out of it. I am now enjoying fishing freshwater without a boat and having a great relaxing time and catching plenty of fish. I will still fish the ocean since it's in my blood but I have definitely lost some interest due to too much bs. Sorry to say! More fish for you guys anyway....right ! Tight lines!

And now that it's Memorial Day weekend, it's only going to get worse until September.

I'm so satisfied to hear of other fishermen/boaters that are annoyed with bad boaters on the water. I just responded to a fishing brother at the Manasquan Inlet that is concerned for the well being of the kyakers, and other boaters/fishermen near the Manasquan Inlet. Too many boaters are travelling too fast to be safe. The answer in my mind is RESPECT for others, and of yourself. Don't cut through the bunker that everyone else came in from the side to catch. Don't bear down at RAMMING SPEED through the drifting boats. And watch your wake at all times, because YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR YOUR WAKE. Enough said.................Catch 'em up. Papa

how bout some of the yakkers take a defensive approach and put a flag or some sort of hi flyer off there vessal...only a matter of time before some poor capt. runs over a kayak. i know its a booming industry and probably a blast too fish but you'd think w there near zero visibility that most yakkers would wanna be noticed! be it lake ,river .bay or open ocean its only a matter of time before some yakker is taken out...just sayin...cant always rely on the other guy to do the right thing...guess thats why i sold my motorcycle...:(

I've been kayaking for many years, and I would never kayak that inlet,
It's just not fun
