NO RAIN, NO WIND!!! A little fog in the AM but flat calm. Just two of us made it out and glad we did. Got set up and had fish on right away. Slugged away at the blues before landing a couple keeper Stripers.
Rich Appert, PA, took today's pool with a very nice 16 pound fish that was caught on a crippled herring. Looked over a new area after the tide changed hoping to find some more Bass but the Blues found us again.
Lou has been bleeding the smaller blues and putting them on ice for the customers, when they are fillet the meat is perfect. Burlap Bags are a thing of the past!
Couple guys from last week commented on the difference in how they cooked up and how good they tasted. If taken care of right away, they are excellent eating....Blackend, Quick Fried or Grilled. Capt. Dan makes a salad with lemon juice, garlic and fresh dill that is out of this world!!!

Great day on the water with a good group of guys!!
Back at it tomorrow.

I've been sayin that for years.

Bleed em and ice em. Try to stay away from the 10 pounders. 3-5 is perfect.

Marinade for 30 minutes in Chablis or Chardonnay wine, discard the wine and grill in oven with tomatoes, onions, squeezed lemon and spice to taste. Try garlic, pepper, paprika and a little cayenne. 10-15 minutes:):):)
Ps. the wine gives the fish a fruity taste and pulls the oil and stronger taste out of the fish, enjoy!!!!

All great recipes it all how you take of the fish once it's landed. This is the only fish that you can go for these days & fill a cooler full of them. A great fighting fish & I have had them prepared many ways & liked them. This year it looks like it's turning out to be a very good year for them. I remember years ago the boats would be packed with bluefisherman I hope it returns. A keeper Striper plus a few Bluefish how can you go wrong.

Not only are the bluefish under five pounds better to eat they should also be safer to eat too if you're at all concerned about pollutants in the fish. Have fun with the larger blues, and they are awesome fun to catch, i think, but enjoy the smaller ones on your plate. Yum.
