Haven't shore-fished since I was a kid...I don't know who was more surprised, me or the fluke. Just about gave up after losing a dozen jigs to big blues in less than 2 hours. This was NY btw.

Very nice catch, I can't wait to get out there for some bucktailing. :D

Tie the jigs on with a short piece of 60 lb mono and you won't lose them to blues and the stripers (and fluke) will still hit. :)

Thanks guys, I should quit surf fishing now since I don't think I'm topping that. Mako, it pulled 7.1 on my scale, discount the sand and you're spot on.

Capt Rich: I'll definitely work in some kind of short leader for the bluefish next time, thanks!

Nice fish! Typically a 25" is 5#, a 26" is 6#, etc. It will get your guess close if you don't have a scale

Outstanding catch. Keep up the good work. I caught, tagged and released a fluke in Manasquan Inlet on an AVA last week.
