I'm not a striper guy, so thanks for posting in case I decide to go & keep a fish......

But you're saying all these capt's you are proudly posting "BANNER DAY", "STRIPER SLAUGHTER" - "EPIC DAY" ...ETC. are all breaking the law...BWHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

I would say a handful and I mean a handful of pics posted are fish over 43".

This is awesome!!!! :D:D:D

I actually think its clever advertising. The Limits read 1 fish pp @ 28" to less than 43" and 1 fish pp @ 43 or greater so you have 6 people on board and keep 6 fish within that 28 to less than 43 range so then you have a "Limit" catch for that size range. The fact they don't specify that they got the lower size limit and not the upper size limit is mute. Let them post.

I also think we don't give enough credit to the for hire posters that follow the rules always even when said rules are designed to crush their business.

Firmly believe that 99% of the for hire posters here care about protecting all the species and are true conservationists like yourself. Understand your passion about protecting Stripers but more is gained by sticking together than apart.

I know of one charter out of AH that certainly knew the regulations and adhered to them. Hyper "striped " fish.

Eventually fish and game will have to hand out decoder rings to help everyone decipher their jacked off regulations

When the Chesapeak fish show up maybe a true limit. As for now if you get the under 43" fish quick the ethical thing to do would be to use only circle hooks. You might hook 50 bass before a 43" in Raritan Bay.

Maybe if we didnt post so many reports that say "SLAUGHTER", "BEATDOWN", "ANNIHILATION" or descriptions like this , along with a photo of dozens of dead large fish piled up on a bloody heap on the dock, we would still have 2 @ 28...

that goes for the shark fisherman as well... im guilty myself of posting the hero shots to the internet after a good trip.. but its exactly what gets the environmentalist groups attention. Thresher moratorium is coming next

just a thought guys

I think this whole striper thing has become way to personal.no one owns the stripers!!! if the peeps are staying within the law then it really is no ones business what they do or don't do with their catch.it is up to the person fishing
to do what he or she thinks is right.

Not sure of the meaning of the original post: Does he mean that many of the pics displayed by captains show two fish a man limits but none of them are over 43"? Or just sting the fact that not many 43" are being taken?

As for the first question. As far as I know the new reg didn't get signed and got into affect until May 1. Plus many had a bonus tags that were still good in April. However, they are not to be used until Sept now and it a slot fish.

Now for the second question. This just proves the point I've been trying to make to all nut jobs out there who say things like NJ's new reg will kill all the breeders. Guess what? 28"+ fish are breeder too. And the fish in the 30-40" range are considered to be the most active and productive breeders. And now instead of taking two of them, you can only take one. That sounds like a 50% reduction to me. The fact is, it's going to be very difficult to go out and catch one 28-43" and one over 43". Many that do get that 43"+ fish release them anyway. I've release two so far this year. The only two I got. In fact, haven't kept a fish all year. Mostly because I just don't feel like cleaning fish when I get back :D

I don't know if it answers the original posters question but I hope it helps.

I don't know if seeing dead, head count shots have any effect on regs...but live fish certainly make for better pictures :)

A big, glistening striper with fins flared is a noble fish. Even if you're keeping it for the table, take a photo right after landing it; it's worth the extra minute!

For those who haven't received the email or seen this yet. I wasn't actually signed into law until 5/4 but went into effect 5/1

Striped Bass Bonus Program Changes

Effective May 1, 2015

Thank you for participating in the 2015 Striped Bass Bonus Program (SBBP). This notice is to inform you that the SBBP will close on May 1, 2015 and will remain closed until September 1, 2015. All current permits are no longer valid. A new permit will automatically be issued through the mail prior to September 1, 2015. You do not need to do anything to receive a valid 2015 Bonus Permit.

Harvest reporting and online logbooks are currently not available. Detailed information about new SBBP procedures will be provided with your new permit and through various outlets, including list serve, as soon as they become available.

On September 1, 2015, the new SBBP regulations will be:

One fish 24" to less than 28"

Please note that the order of fish harvested does not matter. The Bonus fish can be the 1st, 2nd or 3rd fish.

The New Jersey recreational striped bass regulations in all state waters are as follows:

One fish 28" to less than 43" AND one fish 43" or greater
