Looking forward to contributing some reports. I have been reading reports over the last few years and NJ Fishing members have pointed me in the right direction on where the latest bite has been so here's the first report;)

Took advantage of nice weather on Wednesday and fished Raritan Bay. Had my dad who's 75 and brother Will out for the day and weather was awesome with slick calm water and good fishing.

Tried anchoring up on couple different spots that had some nice marks with only one short so we decided to go on the troll with good reports from the weekend. Wasn't long before we had some nice marks on the finder up on the flats and picked up 4 keepers in the next hour on stretches.

Bite slowed so we moved around picked up couple shorts in deeper water, tried near Navy pier and water was really dirty almost like it was stained?? Not sure why but we ran back to where we had em in earlier in the day w clean water and started marking nice fish.

Picked up 2 more nice fish and ended day w 6 nice keepers up to 18 lbs. First time trolling plugs and it was fun to have them slam the plugs.

Great start to the season boat ran good nice day on water w dad and brother Will.

Going to be out again on Saturday.

Great first report Deep. Sounds like you had a decent day.

I noticed the water has been extra dirty this year too. Usually it's caused by the rain and run off but since we've had no rain, I'm assuming its the wind churning everything up.

Thanks Gerry, glad I joined the NJ Fishing community and get a chance to say thank you for all of the help you have giving me over the last few years on where to launch fish etc since I was new to fishing up north.

I'm keeping the boat in Shark River this season and looking forward to learning the area and sharing some reports.

The water was really really dirty, I would say not fishablebut there were boats anchored up so maybe with bait. Going to give it another shot tomorrow:cool:

Thanks again...

John

Really bad red tide since Monday afternoon.

What causes the red tide? That's what I had to see it was more than just churned up dirty water. Thanks.
